School Uniform
At St Dominic’s School we believe that school uniform helps to create a sense of belonging and gives us a stronger identity and sense of unity throughout the school community. School uniform can also remove the potential stress on pupils of meeting the expectations of their peers to wear the latest clothes.
Pupils in Years 3 to 11 are required to wear school uniform to class. This consists of:
White, school-branded polo shirt
Black, school-branded round-neck sweatshirt or black, school-branded zip-up fleece
Grey trousers, skirts and shorts
Black shoes (these can be trainer-type but must be black, with black soles and black laces/velcro, with minimal branding and no colours)
Black, grey or white short socks / grey tights
Sixth Form students are entitled to wear their own clothes to class.
For PE and Forest School, pupils and students are required to wear black shorts (summer) and a gold, school-branded polo shirt with either a black, school-branded round-neck sweatshirt or black, school-branded zip-up fleece and black (unbranded) tracksuit bottoms (winter). They will also need a black, water-resistant school coat (unbranded).
We recognise that in our setting, some pupils have specific needs around clothing and comfort, and we continue to strive for a balance between inclusion, practicality, and safety.
Please ensure:
• Clothing is appropriate for a school setting – no revealing attire, vests, cropped tops, or short shorts/skirts.
• Footwear is practical and safe – shoes must have a closed toe and heel to allow pupils to move safely around the site and take part in activities. Crocs, sliders, and open sandals are not
permitted. Footwear should also be appropriate for the weather and our outdoor spaces.
• Jewellery is kept to a minimum – for safety reasons, pupils may wear small stud earrings and/or a discreet necklace that can be worn under their school polo shirt. Rings, bracelets, anklets, and facial piercings are not permitted.
• Smartwatches may be worn if not linked to a phone, cannot record video or audio and do not cause distraction. Simple, time-telling watches are encouraged but must be removed for certain activities such as PE and practical sessions.
• Long hair is either tied up or pupils can tie it up themselves for activities which require hair to be away from the face.
If pupils come to school wearing jewellery that is not permitted, they will be asked to remove it and we will store it safely, in the same way we manage electronic devices.
School uniform that does not need to be branded can be purchased from any supplier, such as Tesco, Asda, M&S, Sainsbury’s, etc.
School branded sweatshirts, fleeces and polo shirts can be purchased online through Price & Buckland, either via this link:
or via the School Finder page on Price & Buckland’s website:
There is now an option to buy the school and PE polo shirts with a printed logo or embroidered.
Our PTA, Friends of St Dominic’s (FoSD), sell nearly-new used uniform that can be delivered to school. Everything is either £1 or £2. If you wish to place an order,

We understand that for many of our pupils and students clothing can present some sensory issues. Please let your child’s Form Tutor know if this is the case so that we can discuss any modifications that can be made to help your child feel as physically comfortable in school as possible.
All personal clothing and footwear must be clearly marked with your child’s name.
The Department for Education (DfE) cost of school uniform guidance means schools in England must ensure that school uniform costs are reasonable and families get the best value for money. For more information please click on the following link
