Financial Aid Timeline & Checklist
The Financial Aid Office encourages families to keep track of all financial aid activity. Following this checklist may help reduce some of the frustration that accompanies the financial aid process. Keep all copies of documents that you sign and/or submit.
YOU CAN FILE FAFSA®ANYTIME AFTER DECEMBER 1st

☐ Complete and submit FAFSA each year as soon as possible after December 1st
☐ Look for outside scholarships
December - March
☐ Update FAFSA using IRS Direct Data Exchange (starting 2024-25)
☐ Review FAFSA Submission Summary (also called Student Aid Summary or SAR)
☐ Review financial aid offers for the upcoming year
☐ Complete verification (if needed) and send all documents to the Financial Aid Office
March - May
☐ Register for Fall classes
☐ Update ACT & transcript information
April - May
☐ Complete Master Promissory Note (MPN)
☐ Complete Loan Entrance Counseling
☐ Register for New Student Summer Orientation and class registration
May - June
☐ Sign up for a payment plan
☐ Research Parent PLUS Loan Application or alternatives
July
☐ Review billing statement and finalize your financial plan
☐ Complete student insurance application or waiver
August
☐ MAP Recipients: enroll in at least 15 credit hours each semester to qualify for the full MAP grant award
