The Associated Student of Woodbury University (ASWU)
The Associated Student of Woodbury University (ASWU) supports the needs and wants of all students through funding events, projects, and facilitating change through means of communication between faculty and staff. This is your student government.
Who We Are?
ASWU is the voice of the students! Whenever a concern or problem may occur, students share that information with us. We then contact and connect with the administrator in charge of that specific area to come up with a solution. This process takes time and ASWU makes sure that the result is what the students of Woodbury need. We also promote on and off campus events as well as allocate money to student organizations to promote student life on campus. We meet with the President of Woodbury, Dr. Steele, numerous times a semester. We also help sponsor many student projects or ideas presented to us. ASWU is for the Students, by the Students!

What Does an ASWU Meeting Entail?
Meetings are very important to us, they help keep us up updated with our various projects and we vote on many important agenda items. They also allow us to hear students and share the progress of our work. We have each organization on campus send a representative that submits weekly reports to keep our calendar of events updated. The entire ASWU assembly is present which includes all Vice Presidents, Senators and Interns.

Here you can find answers to frequently asked questions about who we are, what we do, and what we stand for.
Q: What is the Student Life Fee?
A: It is a fee charged to all undergraduate students each fall and spring academic terms. The fee is used to fund major campus events planned by the Campus Activities
Board. student organizations, your undergraduate student government known as ASWU, the Discount Card program, Woody our Warrior Owl, ASWU projects that our outlined on our project page on the website, Woodbury University’s largest and most traditional campus programs by the students, called Signature Events.
Q: How much money do I pay for the Student Life Fee?
A: Each full-time undergraduate student pays $125 each fall and spring semester. The breakdown of this fee can be found below under what is the money generated from the fee used for.
Q: Who pays the student life fee
A: The fee is charged to all undergraduate students enrolled at the Woodbury University Burbank campus only, which does not include students from Woodbury University graduate program or San Diego campus. Therefore, only undergraduate students paying their tuition and fees to Woodbury University Burbank are assessed the Activity Fee, and only those students are eligible for its benefits.
Q: How much money does the fee bring in?
A: At the $125 per semester level, the Fee generates roughly $150,000 each semester. This fluctuates based on the enrollment numbers.
Q: What is the money generated from the fee used for?
$125 per Fall and Spring semester shall be collected from all registered
undergraduate students of the day population, as stated in the Woodbury University Catalog.
$125 per person from all registered undergraduate students of the day population shall be transferred to the Campus Life Enhancement fund.
The remaining collected money shall be allocated as follows:
1. 47.5% shall be transferred to the Campus Activities Board account for their exclusive use and 52.5% shall be transferred to the ASWU Assembly account tor further breakdown:
An upfront amount of $1,100 per ASWU Executive Board member will be allocated for remuneration per semester,
$900 for the spring and fall semester
$200 for the summer stipend in the fall and spring to total
the $400 stipend.
$150 shall be allocated for Assembly every semester per intern, senator, project manager, and secretary. Fall and Spring semester funds shall be used for gift cards; refer to By-laws regarding Attendance Policy, 55% of the remaining amount shall be allocated to the Organizations Allocations Committee, and operating budget.
Q: What types of events are sponsored by the fee?
A: The fee funds free concerts, social and networking events, movies, special events, sports events, club events, and many more events can be proposed by any organization at Organization Allocation Committee meeting held each fall and spring semester.
Q: How do student organizations benefit from the Student Life Fee?
A: Each new organization is given seed money of $200 to use to have their first event and operating funds. Each registered student organization is eligible to receive up to $1,400 an event with a passing vote through OAC. This money can be increased by having organizations collaborate together for an event. Also, organizations are offered initiatives for tabling at events or having perfect attendance at Assembly Meetings.
Q: Who decides how the Student Life Fee is allocated?
A: The Associated Students of Woodbury University (ASWU), which is comprised of: the ASWU e-board, assembly organization representatives, interns, senators, project managers, and secretary; makes all decisions about the structure of the Student Life Fee which is also outlined in the legislation. ASWU is a representative group of undergraduate students. The ASWU Vice President of Finance is responsible for ensuring all student life fees are allocated appropriately.

Student Organizations at Woodbury University are meant to enrich student life on campus by creating groups of students with similar interests and advocating for those interests. These organizations create leadership experience as well as helping students evolve real life interpersonal skills that can not be taught in the classroom.
