Healing with Heart, Fighting with Strength
Who we are
Our Story
In 1992, cancer care was a distant dream for the people of Barak Valley. The only cancer hospital was in Guwahati, far beyond reach for many. Patients traveled long distances, often too late, while others had no choice but to suffer. A group of citizens refused to accept this reality. They saw the struggle. They felt the pain. And they chose to act. This vision gave birth to the Cachar Cancer Hospital Society—a commitment to spread awareness, build a hospital, and create a space where no one is denied care. What started as a dream became a mission—one that would change thousands of lives.
Mission
We are a non-profit hospital that provides comprehensive cancer care to people in need – especially the underserved – through prevention, treatment, palliation, education and research.
Vision
We aim to become a state of the art cancer centre that will ensure that no individual develops a cancer that can be prevented, that no patient is denied appropriate cancer treatment for want of resources, that no patient dies in agony and indignity and that no family suffers treatment induced poverty and grief.
The people behind
Our team is the heart of Cachar Cancer Hospital—a group of dedicated doctors, specialists, and caregivers working together to provide compassionate, patient-centered care.

How we began
Change didn’t come easy, but the people made it happen.
With land from the Government of Assam and generosity from countless donors, the foundation stone was laid by Late Chief Minister Hiteshwar Saikia. 11 bighas of land turned into a beacon of hope.
On February 10, 1996, Cachar Cancer Hospital & Research Centre opened its doors. A place built not just with bricks and mortar, but with compassion, determination, and the belief that no one should battle cancer alone. From a vision to a reality, this is our journey of care.
