The Mengo Hospital School of Nursing and Midwifery was founded in 1919 by Mrs. Catherine Cook, wife of Dr. Albert Cook, with an initial group of eight enrolled midwives. Nurses were later enrolled in 1928. As the first and oldest nursing and midwifery school in Uganda and East Africa, the school holds a special and respected place in the hearts and minds of many people.

To be a centre of excellence in producing comprehensively trained nursing professionals.
Mission
To produce highly competent and responsible nurses with positive attitudes, guided by Christian values, to deliver holistic health care services.
Courses Offered
1. Diploma In Nursing or Midwifery (Upgrading) – 1 ½ years
