Aging Louisianans
The aging and elderly are the fastest growing demographic in the state of Louisiana, making up nearly 20% of the population. The Louisiana Department of Health has a number of programs and resources to address the needs and concerns of the state's elderly population, including healthcare, long-term care, caregiver support and quality of life programs. The aim of the various elder care programs is to ensure that seniors have access to appropriate healthcare, promote independent living, provide resources to help aging residents remain active and engaged in their communities and advocate for policies to support the well-being of aging Louisianans.

Facility-Based Programs
Facility-based programs are available for individuals in need of 24-hour care for rehabilitative, restorative and ongoing nursing care.
Home and Community-Based Services
Home and community-based services provide elderly individuals and individuals with disabilities support to allow them to remain in their homes while enhancing their quality of life.
Permanent Supportive Housing
The Louisiana Permanent Supportive Housing program connects individuals with severe or complex disabilities with affordable rental housing and voluntary, flexible and individualized services.
