Federation of Earth
Formerly Used Flag:
In 1969, peace activist John McConnell introduced his design, known as the Earth Flag, to symbolize the planet Earth. The 1973 iteration of this flag incorporates "The Blue Marble," a photograph of Earth captured on December 7, 1972, by the crew of Apollo 17 during their mission to the Moon, with the planet depicted against a dark blue background. This version of McConnell's flag was utilized unofficially as the flag of the Federation of Earth until 2023.
