Webinar: Understanding how social care assesses older LGBTQ+ people for support: findings from the LOASCA study

This webinar presented the findings from the LGBTQ+ Older Adult Social Care Assessment (LOASCA) study conducted at the University of Birmingham.
This co-produced study focuses on the ways social care workers engage with sexual orientation and gender identity (SOGI) in social care assessments. This webinar provides a detailed understanding about how social care practitioners navigate discussions around SOGI, uncovering the challenges and successes encountered in assessments.
Along with colleagues from the Universities of Manchester and Bristol, and Opening Doors, a nation-wide charity dedicated to older LGBTQ+ adults, the project team includes older LGBTQ+ people with experience of social care. During the session we presented the key findings and explored the broader implications of the study for social care practitioners and social care service providers. This webinar is a unique chance to glean practical insights that can be applied to improve inclusivity, sensitivity, and social care for older LGBTQ+ individuals.
