Alternative Breaks is an immersive week of hands-on service, leadership building, and relationship building supplemented with education and reflection. Each trip focuses on a particular social issue, and immersion in that issue begins long before the trip itself. Students educate themselves and each other, leading to hands-on work with relevant organizations.

The Hegi Family Career Development Center hosts two unique internship programs for undergraduate students, the Engage Dallas Internship program and the Achieving Career Competence, Exposure, and Strategies for Success (ACCESS) Internship program. The programs provide students from diverse backgrounds with hands-on experience with a local DFW area organization offered by private companies and non-profit organizations.
