An Easter Blessing from Our Chaplain
An Easter Blessing from Our Chaplain

“Peace be with you.”
These are the beautiful words Jesus spoke to St. Mary Magdalene and His other apostles immediately after the Resurrection.
“Peace be with you.”
These are the words the newly-minted Pope Leo XIV first spoke on the Loggia delle Benedizioni of St. Peter’s Basilica on the 8th of May last year, when he was elected the 267th pope.
Peace be with you.
These are the words we all long to hear as we contemplate all that is troubling our world, our nation, our neighborhoods, and perhaps even our families and our hearts. Easter is the most joyous of liturgical seasons because we celebrate the most amazing truth: that Jesus is risen from the dead, and has conquered sin and death forever.
And Easter reminds Christians that peace is not the absence of struggle, but rather the presence of God Who overcomes it. It is a gift that meets us where we are and gently calls us forward in hope.
This Easter, may “Peace be with you” become more than a greeting—may it be a promise you receive and a blessing you share. In a world so in need of healing, may we be people who carry peace into our homes, our communities, and our work, with hearts as wide as the world.
Be assured of my prayers for you and your families at this time. Let us pray, too, for our beloved Canterbury.
In this Easter season, in imitation of the Blessed Mother, St. Joseph, and St. Edmund of Canterbury, let us commit ourselves to seeing and being the goodness of God.
“Indeed, He is risen! Alleluia! Alleluia!”
