At FBCA, students and families are more than just numbers. Our family feels like valued members of the community. Smaller classes provide individual attention, positively influencing learning, confidence, and personal development. The higher academic requirements successfully prepare them for college.

Overview
Dear FBCA Community,
We want to provide some information about the Texas Education Freedom Account (TEFA) program, which was just passed by the Texas legislature, that could be beneficial for you.
This last year, Texas passed into law the Texas Education Freedom Account (TEFA) program, which is designed to expand educational choice options for families by giving them access to publicly funded accounts for education-related expenses. TEFA funds can be used for private school tuition and other eligible education expenses, such as textbooks, tutoring, uniforms, and more. Fort Bend Christian Academy is recognized as an eligible school where families may use TEFA funds.  For some families, TEFA funds could be a significant help in meeting tuition costs.
It is important to note that our school’s admissions standards, educational programs, Christian commitments, and religious requirements of our faculty, staff, parents, and students will not be affected by being an eligible school where parents can use their TEFA funds.  Should this change, Fort Bend Christian Academy would withdraw from involvement with TEFA or any program before we allow infringement on our distinctly Christian educational mission, religious liberty, or operational freedom.
For families interested in utilizing TEFA, the window to apply for TEFA funds for the upcoming academic year is February 4, 2026, through March 17, 2026.  Families who are interested in applying are encouraged to review the most accurate and up-to-date information directly on the official
TEFA website.
Questions related to applications, approval status, or funding specifics should be directed to TEFA resources. We will continue to communicate any school-specific procedures that may be required for families who receive TEFA on our Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) below.

Senate Bill 2 creates the
Texas Education Freedom Account Program (TEFA)
, starting in the
2026–2027 school year
. The program gives eligible families
$10,474 per student each year
in public funds to pay for
private school tuition and other education costs
. For students with disabilities, families can receive upwards of $30,000 per child. TEFA aims to make private education more affordable, especially for low-and middle-income families and students with special needs.
Fort Bend Christian is an accredited private school and meets the state’s eligibility standards. While not required, our school has decided to participate during the 2026-2027 school year. We will evaluate our participation annually to ensure we can participate without compromising our Christ-centered mission and curriculum.
A student must be a U.S. citizen, national, or lawful resident eligible to attend a Texas public school. If applications exceed available funding, a lottery will decide placement.
Applicants are prioritized as follows:
Students with a disability (defined by the TX Educ. Code Sec. 29.003) whose family income is at or below 500% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines (FPG).
Children whose family income is at or below 200% of FPG
Children whose family income is between 200% and 500% of FPG.
All other students may qualify if funds remain, with no more than 20% of spots reserved for this group, and priority given to those switching from public schools.
Siblings of children already in the program (after the first round of selections)

To further understand these qualifications, we encourage families to visit the Texas Comptroller’s website,
Texas Education Freedom Accounts
.
If a family receives TEFA funds and directs them to Fort Bend Christian Academy, those funds will be applied toward tuition; however, they typically do not cover the full tuition amount. Any remaining balance is the responsibility of the family.
Please note that TEFA disbursement dates may differ from FBCA tuition due dates. Regardless of when TEFA funds are received, families are required to adhere to their contracted tuition payment plan. Contracted payments must be made on time, independent of TEFA funding schedules.
Fort Bend Christian Academy exists to glorify God through excellence in college-preparatory Christian education. It is the mission of Fort Bend Christian Academy to equip students to thrive spiritually, academically, socially, emotionally and physically. Our commitment to that mission is unwavering. The Texas Comptroller's Office issued final rules that have made clear that participation in TEFA will not limit or impose any requirements that would affect a private school’s religious beliefs, admissions standards, enrollment practices, policies, academics or curricula.  Furthermore, FBCA would not be part of anything that compromises our faith, admissions standards, or educational curriculum. We will participate only as long as the law continues to uphold religious freedom and school autonomy.
We encourage families to get all information directly from the source at
Texas Education Freedom Accounts.
Coming in as a student who went to public school my entire life, I was surprised at how fast I was able to find a group of friends. We have a community where there is so much respect and love for everyone, and I just think it's a great place to learn and grow not only academically, but spiritually as well. I have never seen teachers who cared for their students and had so much compassion for their craft as much as they do here.

The FAST Application
Fort Bend Christian Academy (FBCA) uses Financial Aid for School Tuition (FAST) to process applications for financial aid. FAST is an online program that works in your computer’s web browser.
Financial Aid will be considered for a new student following a completed enrollment application and acceptance to FBCA.
The maximum amount of financial aid that can be awarded is up to 50% of the annual tuition based on demonstrated need.
FBCA does not award merit scholarships.
Financial Aid is not available for PreK Students.
Financial Aid information is confidential.
Financial Aid decisions are made separately from and independently of admission decisions.
Please note the following regarding FBCA’s financial aid application process for 2026-2027:
A signed and dated copy of your 2025 IRS Form 1040, U.S. Individual Income Tax Return, must be provided. Your financial aid application will not be considered until the school receives your 2025 tax return.
Federal Tax Forms, including all supporting schedules, must be provided. This includes, if applicable, Schedule 1 (Other Income), Schedule A, B, C, D.
In the case of divorced or separated parents/guardians, FBCA considers the assets of both natural parents/guardians, if living, before making any award. Therefore, both parents/guardians must submit all financial aid forms, regardless of custodial arrangements or educational expense agreements. FAST provides separated/divorced families complete confidentiality with regard to individual family reporting.
CURRENT FAMILIES: The FAST website opens for 2026-2027 Financial Aid Application submissions beginning January 1, 2026. Families must reapply each year.
NEW FAMILIES: Please complete and verify your FAST application for the 2026-2027 academic year. Subsequent applications will be considered depending on the availability of funding.
FAST charges a $60 application fee.
Your application cannot be considered by FBCA until your supporting financial information and 2025 tax documents are verified by FAST. Once FAST has received all the information, please allow one week for your application to be verified. You may track the status of your application on the FAST website.
If you have any questions regarding the documentation required, please contact Janey Gurney at 281-263-9153.
FBCA utilizes the FAST Application to help gather needed information and documents for the financial aid process.  Award decisions are not made by FAST, but by Fort Bend Christian Academy. No information regarding awards will be released to parent applicants by FAST.
