We are committed to ensuring that every student who earns admission can come to Carolina and thrive. Carolina offers a transformative opportunity to Tar Heels, regardless of income and from all walks of life.
Created in 2007,
Carolina College Advising Corps is part of Carolina’s commitment to opportunity
by partnering with low-income high schools throughout North Carolina to increase college enrollment across the state. Advisers are recent Carolina graduates who encourage and support students across the state as they discover schools where they will thrive.
The Carolina Student Transfer Excellence Program, or C-STEP, is a
pathway for community college students to transfer to and graduate from Carolina
. The program fosters success by identifying low- to moderate-income North Carolina students while they’re in high school or early in their community college careers, then guarantees the students admission to Carolina after they earn an associate degree with a GPA of at least 3.2.
Carolina Firsts
is a program dedicated to supporting and empowering first-generation college students through programming and one-on-one support.
The
Kessler Scholars Program
celebrates, connects, and supports the development of first-generation college students from rural North Carolina.
Since launching in 2013, the
Chancellor’s Science Scholars
program aims to create a more inclusive scientific community. Designed to prepare students to pursue graduate degrees in STEM disciplines, the program offers merit-based scholarships, opportunities to participate in cutting-edge research, professional development, leadership training and mentorship.
Carolina’s work-study opportunities allow students to earn money for educational expenses while providing opportunities to support academic and professional development. Through the program, Gillian Kepley’s role at the UNC Visitors Center helped her
afford a college education that will allow her to serve North Carolinians
