Dr. Emily Field, a professor of English,
spoke with the U.S. Postal Service
about Phillis Wheatley, a West African who was brought to Boston on a slave ship and became a Colonial-era poet and author. The USPS recently released a new stamp honoring Wheatley as part of the organization’s Black Heritage stamp series.
