General reference assistance is available at the Alden 2nd Floor Service desk as well as at the
regional campus libraries

Retrieving Materials
Ask at a service desk for assistance retrieving materials from the library collections. Depending on staff availability and the amount of materials, staff may not be able to immediately assist you. For best service please submit a list well in advance of your deadline. If you are registered with the

Scanning and printing
Scanners
and
printers
are available throughout Alden Library as well as at the Music and Dance and regional campus libraries. Assistance with scanners and printers is available at any library help desk.
Students registered through the
Office for University Accessibility
can request that print materials available in the University Libraries be converted into an accessible PDF. If you do not already have an
InterLibrary Loan & Document Express (ILLiad)
account,
register for an account
and identify yourself as being registered through Student Accessibility Services or the Office for University Accessibility. If you already have an account,
update your account
to identify yourself as someone affiliated with one of the two offices mentioned above. Once registered, simply fill out the
ILLiad request form
and indicate in the Notes field any preferred timelines for the scanning to be completed. Every attempt will be made to complete scanning requests in a timely fashion, but if requests cannot be completed within a week the patron will be notified. Adaptive Equipment and Software
Windows desktops in the Libraries include
TextHelp Read&Write
software that assists with reading, writing, and studying. Includes screen reader and research tools.
Read&Write for Windows learning resources.
The
G. Lynn Shostack Adaptive Equipment Room
, on the 2nd Floor of Alden Library, includes a Windows desktop computer equipped with a Braille printer.
Ednalite enlarger
with color enhancement is available in the newspaper area on the 4th floor.
HathiTrust Digital Library Access
As a member institution of HathiTrust Digital Library, students, faculty, and staff at Ohio University are eligible to receive full digital copies of materials that display in HathiTrust as “Limited (search only)”. For more information on this full-text service, please contact

Alden Building Access and Parking
Ohio University and the city of Athens provide handicap parking spaces near Alden Library, as indicated on the map below. Wheelchair ramps are located at both entrances, on Park Place (Alden 2nd Floor) and College Green (Alden 4th Floor). If handicapped spaces are not available, vehicles displaying state-issued handicapped plates, hang-tags, and/or placards are honored in any University lot at any time. Handicapped accessible restrooms are available on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th floors.
