Freedom of information
The Freedom of Information (FOI) Act 2000 gives you the right to access and ask for non-confidential information held by Newham Council and other public bodies.
The Council will not disclose information about IT systems or software used for security purposes.
The Environmental Information Regulations (EIR) 2004 gives you the right to ask for and access environmental information held by Newham Council and other public bodies.
Environmental information includes requests about:
air
water
land
the habitats of animals and plants
emissions
radiation
noise and other forms of pollution
policies, plans and laws on the environment
The FOIA and EIR do not cover requests for personal information held about you. This can be requested by making a
data subject rights
request.
