Part of the
ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge
, the Washington Campus Voting Challenge is a nonpartisan competition among higher-education institutions aimed at increasing student voter participation and encouraging colleges and universities to help students form the habits of active and informed citizenship.
Campuses that join the Challenge complete a set of action items, with the support of ALL IN staff, to institutionalize nonpartisan democratic engagement at their institution.
How Does the Campus Challenge Work?

If your school is not yet participating, join the challenge.
Join the Challenge
Help prepare for upcoming state, local, and primary elections and the 2028 presidential election:
Select a primary contact person and complete the
online form
to have your campus join the Challenge. Any campus administrator or faculty member may serve as the primary contact; students may not serve in this role. We suggest that before committing your campus, you receive approval from the appropriate individual, office, or department.
Form a Campus-Wide Voting Work Group
Create a nonpartisan campus-wide committee that includes members from all important stakeholder groups, including academic affairs, student affairs, faculty, senior administration, and the student body in order to work towards raising student engagement.
Develop a Campus Action Plan
Document an action plan that describes your institution’s strategy to increase student voting rates and help students form the habits of active and engaged citizenship. Your plan must include your campus’ participation in the National Study of Learning, Voting, and Engagement (
NSLVE
). Action plans will be shared publicly on the Challenge’s website. Visit ALL IN's

Share your campus’
NSLVE
report with the Challenge. Information from the report will be used to determine designation seals and awards. Reports will not be shared publicly, however we recommend that you post them on your campus’ website.

Be Recognized
All participating campuses are recognized for joining the Challenge and making a commitment to increasing student voting rates and helping students form the habits of active and engaged citizenship. Campuses with student voting rates of 50% and above will earn seals, and campuses with exemplary efforts will win awards.

) from CIRCLE at Tufts University.
