Our Summer pre-college programs invite you to immerse yourself in rigorous online or in-person course work and experience a unique global college culture led by Northwestern Qatar faculty and graduates. Spring 2026 Pre-College Programs
Virtual
Short Film Story Lab
Instructor:
Dana Atrach
Over five sessions, students will learn how short films are built: clear characters, strong conflict, and simple but effective structure. We’ll watch and discuss short examples, break down what’s happening in each part of the story, then develop an original idea into a brief beat outline and a 1–3-page script scene. No prior experience with screenwriting is required; the course is designed as a focused, practical introduction to telling stories for the screen.

In-Person
On-Camera Presenting & Interviewing
Instructor:
Christina Paschyn
In this class, students will gain hands-on experience presenting the news and interviewing guests on camera. Through interactive activities, guided practice, and constructive feedback, participants will learn how to organize ideas clearly, manage nerves, and strengthen on-camera delivery with effective voice and body language. They will learn how to conduct engaging Q&As while keeping interview guests on track. The class final project will be a full news show, with each student reading news bulletins off a teleprompter or hosting unscripted interviews as the cameras roll.
