Visitor Guidelines

The below represents current visitor guidelines for all UCLA Health patient care areas.
Please note:
Masks are recommended but not required in patient care areas, including patient rooms, patient waiting areas, clinic suites and ambulatory clinics.
Visitors for inpatient visits must check in at the hospitality services information desk daily for a visitor badge. All badges expire at midnight.
Pets are not allowed. Service animals must be approved by the nursing unit prior to arrival and must be badged by the hospitality desk.
We recommend that visitors refrain from eating in patient care areas.
If you are experiencing a cough, cold or symptoms of any infectious disease, please stay home.
Visitor guidelines by patient population
All visitors must register at the information desk to receive a badge and be symptom-free of any infectious disease.
All minors must be accompanied by an adult and supervised at all times.
Adult and pediatric inpatients (including shared rooms), labor & delivery patients and NICU babies
There may be instances where visitation may be limited due to space, safety, privacy and clinical needs.
One overnight visitor per patient is allowed unless safe care is impacted.
NICU:
Due to space constraints, visits from children may be limited.
Same day surgery patients
There may be instances where visitors will be limited due to space, safety, privacy and clinical needs.
Visitors will be assigned to a designated waiting room.
Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital patients
RNPH
visitation is designed according to treatment plans and structured scheduling of patient activities permitting two healthy visitors per patient.
Visitation cannot be split or shared between multiple visitors.
Telephone calls remain available for those unable to visit in person.
Unit specific visitation (RNPH):
4E:
Monday - Friday: 5:30 - 6:30 pm; Saturday - Sunday and holidays: 2 - 4 pm and 5:30 - 6:30 pm
4N:
Monday - Friday: 5 - 6 pm; Saturday - Sunday and holidays: 4 - 6 pm
4W:
Monday - Friday: 6 - 7 pm; Saturday - Sunday and holidays: 2 - 4 pm and 6 - 7 pm
If patients are in a semi-private room, one patient will have their visitor during regular unit visiting hours and the other patient will have their visitor during the subsequent hour, to be arranged by unit staff.
Visitors must visit in the patient's room.
Emergency Departments
Emergency room visitation is separate from hospital visitation.
All visitors must check in with security for a visitor badge, be symptom-free of any infectious disease and stay with the patient in an assigned location.
Ronald Reagan, Santa Monica and West Valley Medical Centers:

visitors for patients in emergency department rooms and 1 visitor for patients in hallway beds.
Pediatric patients: 2 healthy visitors/guardians at a time.
Visitors may be asked to leave if the department becomes overcrowded.
Visitors with patients slated for admission must check in at the main lobby information desk to receive a unit visitor badge prior to going to the patient room.
Ambulatory clinics, infusion areas and labs
All visitors must be symptom-free of any infectious disease.
