Godfrey Okoye University Enugu has once again been commended for its commitment to quality academic, moral, and spiritual formation.
At a Holy Mass marking the close of the week-long 13th Convocation activities, the Archbishop of Abuja and Chancellor of the University, His Grace Most Rev. Dr. Ignatius Ayu Kaigama praised the institution for producing graduates who are widely accepted and celebrated in different spheres of life. He noted that the university’s training has continued to elevate its image and reputation.
Speaking further, Archbishop Kaigama described the organisation, liturgy, and conduct of staff and students throughout the Convocation as outstanding, adding that Godfrey Okoye University remains a place where true intellectual and academic excellence thrive.
He also reminded the congregation that while the Bishops and clergy pray for the people, they also need encouragement and support.
In his remarks, the Vice-Chancellor, Rev. Fr. Prof. Christian Anieke encouraged Nigerians, especially political leaders, to emulate the humility and discipline displayed by the Catholic Church. He also commended Rev. Fr. Henry Ochiagha, who celebrated his first Holy Mass at the event, for his excellent performance.
Earlier in his message, Rev. Fr. Ochiagha urged Christians to prepare for the coming of Christ by avoiding actions and associations that could keep them from God’s kingdom. He emphasized that Christ’s coming brings peace and called on the faithful to shun every form of compromise with evil.
The event was graced by the Pro-Chancellor, HRM Prof. Igwe Christian Nwachukwu Okeke, alongside principal officers, deans, professors, staff, and students of the university.
Godfrey Okoye University continues to shine as a model of character formation and academic excellence.
