Field Trips
The Peoria Riverfront Museum encourages students, pre-k to university level, to unleash their inner genius by experiencing art, science, history, and achievement through our innovative and interactive exhibitions.
Your Field Trip Experience
Your students will have the opportunity to see engaging exhibitions, Dome Planetarium shows, and immersive documentaries on the Giant Screen Theater. The museum's education team has created some activities that you can use to help your students engage more fully in the galleries; you may also elect to have a Gallery Guide accompany your group as you explore the museum to guide your students in active inquiry and critical thinking. We recommend planning to spend at least two hours at the museum with your students to get the most out of your visit.
The cost of your field trip depends on what experiences your students will receive while they are at the museum. There is a base price for field trip visitors of
$7.00
per student, which includes one experience of your choice. Each additional experience you select will add
$3.50
per student to the trip pricing. Available student experiences include:
Access to our galleries showing our permanent and traveling exhibitions
Guided tours of the galleries
Planetarium shows in the Dome Planetarium
Immersive documentaries in the Giant Screen Theater
A typical field trip consists of a guided tour of the galleries and either a planetarium show or an educational film, and costs $14.00 per student.
We extend school rates to homeschoolers, scouts, and summer camps. Non-academic groups are welcome to visit with our group rate.

Chaperones are a critical part of field trips to the Peoria Riverfront Museum, and are expected to stay with their students and help guide their engagement in museum experiences. For every five students, one teacher or adult chaperone is admitted free of charge. Additional chaperones will be charged the student rate, and will be added to the final bill for your group.
Limited space is available for school groups that would like to eat their sack lunches at the museum during their visit. If your group needs a space to eat lunch, you must request it at the time of reservation, and space is reserved on a first-come first-served basis.
The gift shop and concession stand are not available to students without prior approval. If your group wishes to take advantage of either area, please provide notice at the time of your reservation.
Reservation requests must be submitted a minimum of
two weeks
in advance of your desired field trip date. Reservations that include the Giant Screen Theater must be submitted a minimum of
three weeks
in advance. No-shows and cancellations less than 48 hours before the reservation will be assessed 50% of the confirmed final amount. Note, museum memberships cannot be combined with field trip and group pricing.
