The
Robert Allerton Art Library at HoMA
is an invaluable resource for the community. With more than 40,000 holdings, the library collects books and periodicals that focus on the artists, art, and art movements represented in HoMA’s encyclopedic collection. Integral to HoMA’s mission and vision, the library plays a vital role in edifying the quest for knowledge, understanding, and beauty that inspires museum goers.
The
HoMA Archives
collects, preserves, and provides access to institutional records of the museum, which include the professional papers of museum staff and trustees and the institutional records of The Contemporary Museum and Spalding House. Archival materials are available by appointment only. To schedule an appointment, email

The library reading room entrance is in Gallery 7, to the left of the Pablo Picasso painting,
Fan, Pipe, and Glass, 191.
Archival materials can be viewed in the reading room.
