Alumni Speaks
From 1966 to 1976, CRS taught me the rudiments of life and have stood me in good stead. I realised later that education is not about subjects taught but about how values get instilled in you during your formative days to be a better human being… going beyond the books prescribed by NCERT. Another great takeaway from my alma mater is the importance of physical fitness for better health, which any day outweighs whatever you acquire. It’s the environment that makes you what you are. I can say, any day, My CRS provided me with the best environment. She taught me and helped me reach where I’m today. I owe a great deal to my gurus and my friends She introduced me to.
She’s my second mother… I love you, dear...

Forty-five years ago our Class of 1978 passed out of CRL School armed with the values and the spirit nurtured there, that helped us further in our lives and career.
There was a spirit of fun along with the discipline. There was ample scope for creativity along with academic seriousness. The importance of sports and games with its competitive spirit and learnings of triumph and failure were a part of each school-day.
With its legacy, I am sure the CRL school will continue to be the bedrock for building excellence among the future citizens of the world. My best wishes to the mentors, teachers and students of CRL school.
Marina George (CRL Class of 1978 (passed 10th Std )

I am what I am today is because of Cochin Refineries School
The alma mater - Inculcated core values, built character, instilled self-confidence, injected healthy competitive spirit, kindled a never say die attitude and enhanced all round development.
Forever Grateful and indebted to all my respected Teachers.
Dr Nasser Yusuf (1972 Batch)

I have been truly benefited by all that our beloved teachers instilled in us. VALUES that upheld the best of virtues. Those that are true to the motto “THAT THEY MAY BE REFINED”.Those that have given me a foundation so strong, remained a leading light in my daily endeavours and enabled me to have risen a few steps in life…
Could not have asked for a better childhood… feeling blessed!! THANK YOU CRS
Sunderarajan Varadan (1984 Batch)
Founder & CEO AADYAH Aerospace Pvt. Ltd. Bengaluru
At 53, memories of school life flood me with waves of nostalgia, happiness, pride and overwhelming gratitude. More than anything, Cochin Refineries School taught me life lessons. Our teachers were role models in self discipline, competence, creativity, passion and humility. They taught us to be fiercely competitive but fair; to handle success with grace; to learn from defeat; to be resilient and never give up. As children, we learned to mutually respect each other and cherish our own uniqueness as a blessing; long before “inclusiveness” and “tolerance” became buzzwords. CRS refined us.
R Mahadevan (1987 Batch)
Asia Pacific Head of Wholesale Credit Policy & Portfolio Management, HSBC, Hong Kong SAR (Special Administrative Region)
When I think back there are three aspects about the school that stand out: the teachers, the inclusive environment and the infrastructure. The teachers were the greatest assets of the school and my life has been set on course by so many of them that I cannot reasonably enlist them here. In fact, there are days even now that I actively think about, emulate and sometimes simply imitate their actions. The lessons they imparted have become the fabric of my daily life and work.Long before diversity became a buzzword, our classroom was a motley collection of socially diverse, neuro-diverse and economically disparate groups which mixed with the innocence of children. The wide open spaces, well equipped laboratories, the active efforts to shun rote learning are all things I look back upon with deep admiration and gratitude.
Dr. Beena R Pillai (1992 Batch)
Chief Scientist CSIR - Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology , New Delhi
The most remarkable years of my life were spent in CRS among friends, teachers & mentors. My alma-mater “led me to light” during my formative years and paved the path of knowledge, wisdom and instilled positive values & character.

My REFINEment in CRS, helped me stand tall both personally & professionally and is instrumental in my journeys to success.

Thanks for REFINING me.
Sudhir Menon (1976 Batch)

Cochin Refineries School, is a name that cannot be separated from my identity today.
A place that not just gave me my academic credentials but the confidence to strut the world and the relationships that make life meaningful. Tutelage under the best teachers and opportunities to delve into so many varied activities made my childhood precious and perfect.
Contesting the elections for the position of School Head-Girl was another momentous occasion in my School-life paving the way for bigger aspirations for a career in the Civil-Services.
I am eternally grateful to Cochin Refineries School for the innumerable ways in which it has refined my thoughts and me as an individual. Wishing that CRS continues to stand tall and transform many more generations to come!
Dr. Athira Thampi (2005 Batch)
I.I.S (Indian Information Service | Ministry of Information and Broadcasting | Government of India.) Deputy Director- Doordarshan News, New Delhi
CRS is my only school- from std one to std twelve. Its where I spent my childhood. It’s where I learned about discipline, punctuality, hard work, dedication, public speaking, interpersonal interaction and much much more. CRS is where I experienced the care and love of my teachers, the true friendships among students, the meaning of camaraderie, and the warmth of relationships. It has given me an all-round development in the form of excellent education, innumerable opportunities in extracurricular activities and sports and games.
I consider myself extremely lucky and blessed to have been moulded by all at CRS.
My alma mater would always be dear to me.
God bless.
