FAQs
Mount Saint Mary’s University strongly encourages all admitted students to apply for on-campus housing for their first year of school. You’ll have closer access to everything, as you meet new friends and more quickly become part of the Mount community. However, MSMU does not require first-year students to live on campus.
New students
Housing applications are available via your Admission Portal. After you have paid your housing deposit, you’ll receive an email with information on how and where to complete your housing application.
We encourage you to submit your housing application as soon as possible.
Housing assignments are made on a rolling basis, as needed for each semester.
Returning or graduate students
Housing applications are available on Engage MSMU. Please contact our office at 213.477.2661 for further assistance with housing applications.
Housing assignments will be sent to your MSMU email account.
Rooms are furnished with a bed frame, extra-long twin mattress, plus desks and desk chairs for each student. Dressers, wardrobes and closets may need to be shared.

The cafes at both our Chalon and Doheny campuses offer a variety of healthy options to meet students’ needs and preferences. Farm-to-fork options, grilled-to-order dishes and made-from-scratch soups are some popular choices. Residents can choose from various meal plans.
Campus Security patrols both campuses, including our parking lots, 24-7. Access to both campuses is constantly monitored for a safe living and learning environment.
Sophomore, junior and senior residents may park their cars on campus with the purchase of a parking permit. First-year residents cannot park their cars on campus unless they are granted an appeal by the Parking Committee.
Yes, guests may visit residents on campus.
MSMU does not allow pets to live on campus except for fish in tanks that hold five gallons of water or less. Should you require a service animal, please contact Residence Life directly regarding policies.
Our
Student Conduct Code and Policies
is published online at the start of every school year. Residents receive a copy when they move in, and Community Advisors review policies during your initial floor meeting.
