Apply today
The deadline to submit the Online Admission Form for the 2026–27 school year was December 1, 2025. If you were unable to complete your form by the deadline due to extenuating circumstances, please contact
admission@newarka.edu
Our Admission process is holistic, individual and student-centered. It’s designed to let you learn about NA, and to let us learn about you.
Your file will be initially reviewed by an Admission Officer who will consider all your materials. The information will then be reviewed and discussed by the Admission Committee within the context of the grade for which you are applying. The Admission Committee is tasked with building a class composed of students with diverse interests and backgrounds.
We want you to bring your authentic self and interests to our process and community. We are looking to find students (and families) who believe in our mission and values, and who will be curious, motivated, passionate, and collaborative community members inside and outside the classroom. We accept applications for grades 6-11 with grades 6 and 9 being our primary entry points.

The Online Admission Form (OAF) is the first step in our process. It’s a way for us to start to get to know you and your interests. The form invites you to share biographical information and includes short-answer questions for both you and your parents or guardians.
Once your OAF has been submitted and processed, you will be able to schedule a 30-minute informal Candidate Conversation, which is paired with a 15-minute Parent Conversation.
During your conversation with an Admission Officer or Faculty member, you and your interests will be front and center. We invite you to bring in questions, too. We look forward to getting to know you and to sharing more about NA.
We want to get to know you as a learner and community member through the eyes of your current teachers. We ask for recommendations from your current Math and English teachers as well as another teacher of your choice. You will be able to send your teachers our recommendation form through the applicant portal. Of course, we recommend asking them in-person before sending the recommendation requests. (We also recommend sending them a thank you note!)
We want to know what you’re learning in school and how school is going for you. We ask that your school submit your prior year transcripts and that you or your parents/guardians send your current year grades when available.

Standardized testing is one data point in our holistic review process of every candidate.
We accept both the Independent School Entrance Exam (
ISEE
) or the Secondary School Admission Test (
SSAT
), but you only need to take one!
The ISEE and SSAT offer in-person and at-home testing options, and they require advance registration — so please plan ahead. Make sure to include NA's school code when registering so that your scores are sent to us.
ISEE School Code: 310915
SSAT School Code: 5296

Testing is an important piece of our holistic review process as it helps us understand and assess academic readiness and match, along with the transcript and recommendations. We want to make sure that NA is the right match academically, but we’re also focused on how students will contribute to the community beyond the classroom. For reference, our average test score for admitted students is around the 70th percentile.
All tests taken on or before the deadline of
January 12, 2026
will be accepted.
You track your progress throughout the application process within our online application portal and by checking the ‘Candidate Checklist.’ The Candidate Checklist tracks the status of all required steps, though we do ask that you allow 24-48 hours for a document to be processed and reflected within the Checklist.
Applicants may link supplementary materials via the Online Admission Form. Supplementary materials are not required but encouraged to showcase skill level in the arts, athletics, or other areas. If you wish to have a coach, teacher or mentor submit a supplementary recommendation please have them email it to
admission@newarka.edu
and it will be added to the Candidate’s file.
Newark Academy receives roughly 700 applications for approximately 120 new students.
Tuition for the 2025-2026 school year is $53,175 and we have $2,070 in required lunch and technology fees.
In terms of additional expenses, Newark Academy has made the monitoring and limiting of costs for non-required items an important institutional priority. The school’s budget has been expanded in order to absorb incidental costs traditionally borne by families, such as entrance fees at school-wide events, and has reduced the number of fundraising efforts done by school groups. That said, some additional expenses that families can expect include transportation, books, Capstone and Immersion experiences, Athletic webstores and pre-season travel.
For students who receive financial aid, Newark Academy is proud to provide proportional aid on all required expenses.
