Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Program
Our team uses a multidisciplinary approach to diagnose and treat your disease as well as to support your family and caregiver(s).  Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, affects the muscles needed to move, speak, eat and breathe. We understand that this disease is difficult for you, but also for your family and friends. It is our goal is to help you continue to live at home and be treated on an outpatient basis to maintain your quality of life. When intensive nursing care is needed, we treat on an inpatient basis.
How We Treat
Though there is no cure for ALS, our multidisciplinary team works to enhance and maintain your quality of life. Your individualized care plan will address all of your care needs through medicine, therapy and other treatments specific to you. Your appointments at our ALS Center will address all of your needs in one location. In addition, we are committed to continue the fight against ALS through our
clinical trials program
, which you have the opportunity to participate in.
Individual and group recreational activities are offered as well as occupational, speech and language, physical, and aquatic therapy as needed.
If you require a ventilator, or other breathing device, we work to manage your ventilator or wean you from your dependence when possible.
We help you resolve personal, social, or psychological problems and difficulties with your disease.
