Free 48 Hour Canal River Trust Moorings
Dudley Canal & Caverns is a charitable organisation committed to preserving and sharing the fascinating story of the region’s underground canal network and rich industrial heritage. Since 1964, we have worked tirelessly to protect and restore the historic Dudley Tunnel, creating memorable experiences that bring history to life. We offer a range of immersive boat trips, including our popular Underground Experience,
Two Tunnel Tour
Dudley Tunnel Trip
and scenic
Open Water Cruises
, each designed to showcase the incredible geology and industrial past of the area. Visitors can also enjoy our on-site facilities such as the Coffee Shop and Gift Shop. As part of our commitment to supporting canal users, we provide free canal river trust moorings, making it even easier for boaters to explore and enjoy everything we have to offer.
Canal Trust Moorings
Our canal river trust moorings provide an ideal base for exploring the rich heritage and attractions of the area. Just steps away, the
Black Country Living Museum
offers an immersive journey through 300 years of history, featuring over 50 reconstructed shops, houses and industrial buildings, costumed characters and vintage transport.
Dudley Zoo and Castle
present a unique blend of wildlife and medieval architecture, while the Castle Hill Entertainment Complex and local shopping centres in Dudley and Tipton offer diverse leisure and retail options. Our free 48-hour canal river trust moorings, available year-round on a first-come, first-served basis, are conveniently located alongside our Portal building and benefit from easy access to these attractions. Please note that while canal river trust moorings cannot be booked in advance, additional spaces may be found under the nearby bridge.
While you’re moored with us, there is no shortage of ways to make the most of your stay. Step into the welcoming atmosphere of our coffee shop; where you can enjoy freshly brewed coffee, and a sweet treat while taking in peaceful waterside views. For a truly memorable experience, join one of our guided boat trips and discover the hidden limestone tunnels and caverns that reveal 428 million years of history beneath Dudley. If you prefer to stretch your legs, a walk through the nearby Priory Park offers beautiful green spaces, historic ruins and a chance to unwind. Of course, after a day of exploring, you may simply want to enjoy a relaxing evening on board your boat, soaking up the calm and quiet of the canal trust moorings surroundings.
