In addition to New Student Orientation (August 21-22), there will be a separate
mandatory
international student orientation held in August, just after your arrival on campus. More information will be sent in late spring via email.
International students who will be entering the U.S. to attend the Mount for Fall 2026 may enter the U.S. up to 30 days before the start date of their Fall semester. All I-20s issued for traditional undergraduate programs will have a Program Start Date of August 21, 2026.
Therefore, incoming F-1 students may enter the U.S. on or after July 22, 2026
.
We understand that international students are not always able to visit MSMU’s campus prior to enrollment. That’s why we will be hosting a
Virtual International Student Meet-and-Greet
in July 2026. Deposited international students will be invited to meet one another on Zoom, alongside their admission counselor, international student advisor, and currently enrolled international students from the Mount. Invitations will be sent to deposited international students in June.
If you are a first-year student and have not already registered for MSMU courses, you may submit the “Change of Major Request Form” linked in your
MSMU Admission Portal
. If you want to switch to Pre-Nursing, your application will need to be re-evaluated by the Admission Committee. Transfer students should contact their admission counselor about changing majors prior to course registration. Please note that if you initially applied to Pre-Nursing or Nursing for Fall 2026, you are not eligible to be reconsidered for this major.
Yes, students who earn scores of 3 or higher on specific AP Exams or scores of 4 or higher on higher-level International Baccalaureate exams may
receive credit for LACE requirements or elective units
.
Yes, most students take classes on both campuses during their years at MSMU. Depending on your major and preferences, you may be able to schedule all your classes for the semester on the same campus. Make sure to take commuting time into consideration when you plan your schedule and consult the schedule for our
free shuttles
that run between campuses and to/from Union Station, Westwood and the Expo Line Bundy Station.
First-year residents are not permitted to bring a vehicle to campus unless otherwise approved through the parking appeals process. Commuter students of any class year are eligible to purchase a parking permit. Information on the type and cost of permits as well as our free inter-campus shuttle is available on the
Transportation & Parking page
.
You will not be able to pursue the traditional BSN degree at MSMU if you enter as a first-year student with a major other than Nursing or Pre-Nursing. Other health care and science majors that students not admitted to Nursing often pursue are: Biochemistry, Biological Science, Exercise Science, Healthcare Policy, Pre-Med, Psychology and Social Work.
Alternative pathways
to becoming a Mount Nurse are our Accelerated BSN (second bachelor’s degree) and RN to BSN for students who earn their Associate Degree in Nursing (AD.N.) at a community college.
The only option for nursing at MSMU is to attend a community college and apply as a transfer student.
Visit the transfer admission website
for the admission requirements for transfer students.
No, nearly half of our new incoming students are commuters. If interested in living on campus, you must pay the $200 housing deposit and submit the housing application by the stated deadlines. Students assigned to campus housing may be placed at either the Chalon or Doheny campus.
If you change your plans after submitting a housing application, contact the Office of Life. Your financial aid offer will be reviewed, and deposit refunds are subject to the university’s housing policies.
Once your MSMU email account is activated, please use it regularly, as all university offices will send important updates and information to that address.
Your student ID number can be found by logging into your
myMSMU account
, where it appears in your profile or student planning section, and it is also located on your admission letter and student portal.
To travel between campuses, Mount Saint Mary’s University provides a free shuttle service that runs between the Chalon and Doheny campuses, making it easy for students to get to classes, events and campus resources without needing a car.
