Once you understand the basics of the law, your next step is to become familiar with different areas of the law and discover where you career passions lie. Choose from more than 100 electives, which include
clinics
and courses that simulate a practice environment, as you fine-tune your professional path and gain practical experience that gives you a competitive edge.
Certificates and Concentrations
With one of our law concentrations or a certificate, you will tailor your professional path and graduate with the foundation to jump into the area of law you’re passionate about: business law, criminal law, family law, international law, litigation, public interest law, small firm practice, or trusts and estates.
Put What You Learn into Practice
Clinics and Externships
Participate in clinics and externships to represent real clients in the field, under supervision. Gain hands‑on experience drafting motions, negotiating settlements, and advocating in court, while earning academic credit and professional mentorship. One of the nation’s few schools that guarantee a clinical or externship experience to all interested students, at New England Law you may take up to four clinics before your graduate.
Judicial Internships
Secure judicial internships in state and federal courts, drafting opinions, researching case law, and preparing memoranda under the guidance of judges and clerks. Cultivate courtroom insights, professional contacts, and practical litigation skills as you gain a closer understanding of what judges expect from attorneys. We offer part-time for-credit internships and full-time summer internships with a stipend.
