Governing Bodies
Lumbini Buddhist University is governed by four main bodies. The
University Senate
, the highest authority on policies, budgets, and regulations, is chaired by the incumbent Prime Minister. In the absence of the Prime Minister, the Minister of Education takes over, and in their absence, the Vice-Chancellor presides.
The
Academic Council
is an academic body chaired by the Vice Chancellor. It consists of heads of major academic bodies, educationists, experts, and teachers appointed by the Chancellor. This council is responsible for formulating policies and practices on curricula, teaching, examination, and academic programs.
The
Executive Council
, also chaired by the Vice-Chancellor, is responsible for executing decisions made by the University Senate. It comprises seven members including the Vice-Chancellor, a Dean, a Campus Chief who are members of the Senate, three other members from the Senate including a teacher, and the Registrar who serves as the ex-officio member secretary.
Lastly, the
Recruitment Committee
oversees the selection of both teaching and non-teaching staff. They examine each candidate’s qualifications before nominating them. In collaboration with the Executive Council, they recommend candidates for approval, assign ranks to new teachers and staff, and authorize promotions based on academic and work experience as well as evaluation records.
University Senate
University Senate: It is the supreme decision-making body on policies, budgets, and rules and regulations. The incumbent Honorable Prime Minister is the ex-officio chairperson of the Senate. The honorable Minister of Education chairs the Senate Meeting in the absence of the Premier, and the Vice-Chancellor chairs it in the absence of the Minister of Education. The Senate is composed of representatives from Buddhist activists, industrialists, farmers, social workers, academicians, donors, the Ministry of Education, the University Grants Commission, and representatives of other universities. The Vice-Chancellor, the Deans, four Campus Chiefs, and three university teachers nominated by the Chancellor are also members of the Senate. The Registrar is the member secretary of the Senate.

Academic Council
Academic Council:
Chaired by the Vice Chancellor, Academic Council is an academic body of the university. The Council is comprised of the heads of the major academic bodies, such as the Registrar, Deans of different faculties, Chairmen of various subject committees, educationists, Controller of Examinations, Chief of Curriculum Development Center, experts and teachers appointed by the Chancellor on the recommendation of the Vice Chancellor. The Council formulates policies and practices on curricula, teaching, examination, and academic programs of the university.

Recruitment Committee
The
Recruitment Committee
is responsible for determining the selection of teaching staff as well as non-teaching staff based on the examination of the qualification of each candidate presented for nomination. In consultation with the Executive Council and the recruitment, the committee recommends the candidates for approval, appoints, and recommends the rank to be assigned to new teachers and staff and authorizes their promotion and further advancement based on their academic and work experience and evaluation records.
