Club Sport FAQs
What is Swansea University Sport Membership?
Membership is required to participate in any one of our sports clubs. You will be prompted to make the purchase before you can join a club.
What does my membership cover?
It is a one off annual fee of £35 and covers your insurance and BUCS/competition logistics.
It does not include gym membership.
Head over to the
Students' Union website
to find out all you need to know.
Do the sports clubs cater for beginners?
Yes, our clubs welcome everyone including beginners.
How much does it cost to join a club?
Many of our clubs will run a free taster or trial session for you to try. From there, our club membership prices can range from £20 to £80, depending on the sport. This will normally cover all training and competition costs for the year. There may be additional fees due for kit or equipment.
Are there competitive and recreational opportunities?
All our clubs offer a competitive or a recreational option, depending on how much time you want to commit.
How often do clubs train or play?
Our clubs train at least once a week, with the higher performing teams training two to three times a week.
Most competitions take place on a Wednesday afternoon or over the weekend.
Is there activity on Bay Campus?
Swansea Bay Sports Park (Sketty Lane) is our main venue for sport, with the majority of activity taking place there. However a number of our sports clubs utilise Bay Campus facilities for weekly training.
Can I join at any point in the year?
Club activity runs from September through to May/June. So even if you don’t join a club in the first semester, you can still get involved after Christmas. We run a Refreshers Fayre in January for those students new to the university or wanting to join a club.
Are there other ways to get involved?
Yes, there are lots of opportunities even if you do not wish to play sport. These can include coaching, officiating, sport development and volunteer opportunities, team management and first aid. If you're interested in other ways to get involved,
email our Student Sport Development Officer
