The Senior Services Department addresses the needs of Longmont’s senior community, offering a range of programs and services designed to promote active aging, community involvement, and a high quality of life. From health and wellness programs to recreational activities, educational opportunities, and support services, we are committed to enhancing the lives of our older residents.

Support for Everyday Needs
Discover the variety of health services provided by the Senior Services Department:
Information, Referral, and Assistance:
Consult with Seniors Resource Specialists for help with locating resources, accessing services, completing forms, navigating assistance systems, financial assistance programs, budgeting, and end-of-life planning.
Resource Education:
Participate in resource education classes covering topics such as income tax assistance, Medicare basics, social security, long-term care options, financial planning, heating cost assistance, reverse mortgages, transportation, and end-of-life planning.
Counseling and Emotional Support Services:
Access individual, couples, and family counseling, support groups, and senior-to-senior peer counseling.
Caregiving Supports and Education:
Get support for family caregivers, including consultations, support groups, respite assistance, dementia-friendly activities, and caregiver training.
Supportive Services Provided by Local Non-Profit Organizations:
Access services such as meal delivery, emergency responder lockbox program, transportation, Medicare counseling, grocery delivery, yard and snow assistance, handyman services, veterans services, mental health support, and elder abuse reporting.

Explore our Programs and Activities
With more than 200 activities per quarter, you are sure to find something of interest. We offer a complete and up-to-date listing of our activities in our quarterly GO catalog.
Explore a variety of topics including arts and creative pursuits, humanities, culture, literature, history, and more. Sample classes include Watercolor, Silk Painting, Colored Pencils, Pastels, and Colorado History Lectures.
Partnering with our Senior Computer Tech Program and over 60 volunteers, we offer hands-on instruction, lectures, a computer club, and one-on-one lab assistance for both PC and Apple.
Enjoy educational, insightful, entertaining, and intriguing presentations.
Join more than 20 day trips along the Front Range each quarter and extended travel out-of-state and around the world. Sample trips include visits to casinos, performing arts venues, and historical sites.
Two full-time Resource Specialists provide one-on-one assistance with housing, healthcare, completing forms, navigating systems (Medicaid, Social Security), and more.
Participate in free or low-cost activities led by older adults. Sample activities include Billiards, Bridge, Cards, Current Events, Dulcimer, TV Production Club, Knit & Purl, and Woodcarving.
Engage in physical activities ranging from beginner to advanced classes. Sample classes include Feldenkrais®, Line Dance, Pilates, Tai Chi, Yoga, Zumba, and SilverSneakers.
Improve and maintain your physical and mental health with classes on meditation, brain fitness, nutrition, osteoarthritis, neck and lower back issues, Parkinson’s, and heart health.
Join volunteer-led group hikes and snowshoe trips along the Front Range and in the mountains.
Participate in indoor and outdoor sports and activities, including drop-in activities and organized teams. Sample sports include Softball, Volleyball, Golf, and Table Tennis.
