What You Need to Apply for Aid
You must complete the
FAFSA
(or renewal FAFSA) each year you attend New England Law. Once your FAFSA is completed, the Department of Education will forward an electronic copy of your records to the school for use in verifying your eligibility.
Our FAFSA code:
G08916
When to apply:
After October 1
the year before you’ll enroll
What’s required:
Your income and
tax information
from two years before your start
year
. For example, you would
submit
the
2026-2027
FAFSA on or after
October
1, 2025, using your 2023 income and tax information. (Please note: You must
submit
the FAFSA every year.)
We strongly encourage you to use the
Direct Data Exchange (DDX)
when completing the FAFSA, if you are eligible to do so
DDX
pulls data
from the
IRS
and
reduces the potential for
additional
paperwork
Use this option if you have a:
Federal tax return filed with the IRS
Valid Social Security number
Federal Student Aid ID
Please note: If you filed an amended tax return and select to use IRS DDX, it populates your original tax information so we may contact you to confirm any amended information.
You’re not eligible to use DDX if you:
Are married and either you or your spouse filed as Married Filing Separately or Head of Household
Filed a Puerto Rican or foreign tax return
If you’re not eligible to use DRT, you must manually enter your tax information on the FAFSA. (We can’t accept a paper copy.)
In addition to FAFSA, you’re required to submit a
Title IV Authorization electronic form.
The form:
Federal regulations
require that we obtain your authorization to apply Title IV financial aid funds to pay for charges related to a prior term, future term, or charges other than tuition and mandatory fees.
Should
submitted
prior to the term bill due date.
Missing this deadline may result in an outstanding balance on your student account and cause late charges to be assessed.
Complete your Title IV authorization form now.
Log-in information for the site will be emailed to you.
We’ll notify you via email if we need any of the following documents. Do not send these documents unless you are instructed to do so.
Verification Worksheet:
If selected for verification, you will need to complete this form and provide supporting documentation.
Tax Transcript:
This may be requested if your federal tax return is needed, and you are not able to use the IRS Data Retrieval Option on the FAFSA. Instructions will be sent to you in the email request on how to obtain a tax transcript.
W-2 Forms:
These may be requested if you indicate on the FAFSA that you did not file a federal tax return, but you did have income.
Incoming admitted students will receive a financial aid award notification email
approximately two
to three weeks after your completed file has been reviewed.
