Global Understanding Project
Global Understanding (GU) is a joint program between Pharos University in Alexandria, East Carolina University and fellow global partners in Education (GPE) members:
It is a set of linking days in which students get to link with their GU partners and exchange productive discussions about pre-set topics.
Linking Days Topics:
Linking Day 1:
PUA Students and their GU partners are to work together collaboratively to develop one short (20 minute maximum) presentation/lecture on their own country/culture/university.
Linking Day 2:
College life
Linking Day 3:
Family/ Cultural Traditions
Linking Day 4:
Meaning of life and Religion/ Stereotypes/ Prejudices
Linking Day 5:
Collaborative Projects Presentations
Global Understanding (GU) program aims at:
Encouraging students to speak their mind and speak freely in an attempt to boost their self-confidence.
Granting students the opportunity to engage in a cross-cultural experience in which students get to communicate with native speakers, hence improving their English proficiency level.
Acquainting students with various cultures all over the world.
Giving students the chance to rectify any false preconceived notions about Egyptians and the Egyptian culture.
PUA and ECU students meet Mondays and Wednesdays of every week.
