Learning may begin in our classrooms, but it does not remain there.
The flexibility of an independent school education means the freedom to approach lessons in exciting and new ways. From exploring the topography of our beautiful 174-acre campus and exploring our area’s unique ecosystems to enjoying the wide range of educational attractions, our students benefit from hands-on experiences that brings learning to life.

Off-Campus Education Week
Each year, students in grades 5-12 at The Pine School participate in off-campus education trips. These adventures expand our students’ worldviews and create lasting memories. From environmentally-focused explorations of the Florida Keys and a historic college tour of the DC area to urban backpacking in New York and whitewater rafting in North Carolina, these trips are more than just meaningful adventures, they create lasting memories.
Lower School Extended Day Program
Our lower school extended day program aims to enrich student learning experiences at Pine and provide a fun, safe environment during after-school hours. Extended Day (K-4) is offered to students Monday through Friday on days when school is in session. A simple snack is provided while students are encouraged to complete their homework during supervised homework and study time. Students who do not have homework read or study to make good use of their time before activities. Extended Day is in session from 3:10 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on days when school is in session.

Patty Woodbury, Off-Campus Trips Coordinator
“Though our Off-Campus Education trips cover a wide range of destinations and activities, in the end, these unique opportunities are about exploring experiences beyond the classroom, while also forging positive school-community connections between our students and faculty.”
