The Bachelor’s + Master’s (B.S. + M.S.) Program at the Marlan and Rosemary Bourns College of Engineering (BCOE) allows qualified undergraduate students to earn both degrees in an accelerated timeline.
By double-counting select coursework, students can complete their master’s degree in as little as one additional academic year—saving both time and tuition while gaining deeper technical expertise.
This pathway prepares students to enter the workforce with advanced skills, stronger research experience, and increased earning potential.

BCOE evaluates interest forms three times per year. After evaluation, expect an eligibility email notification at one of these dates:
The first day of instruction of fall quarter
Week six of fall quarter
Week six of winter quarter
Ineligible candidates receive a message indicating the reason and remediation options, if applicable.
Eligible candidates receive a message with next steps including:
Meeting with the Graduate Student Affairs Officer to start the graduate application
Meeting with the Graduate Faculty Advisor to gain insight about graduate level expectations

Cumulative GPA above 3.4
Cumulative GPA above 3.2 in all math, science and engineering courses
Minimum combined GPA above 3.2 for core courses
Meets pre-requisites for M.S. degree program
When do I apply?
The earlier is better. Submit an interest form to the B.S.+M.S. program, it can help identify areas that require attention to ensure eligibility
The deadline to submit the interest form is the Friday of the third week of enrollment two terms prior to graduation
