Learning at
Newark Academy
Middle School should be a fun time! Across all courses and in extracurricular programming, students are encouraged to take risks and learn from their mistakes, while finding support from dedicated teachers.
Upper Schoolers are encouraged to take intellectual risks, pursue personal passions, rise to challenges, and assume ownership over their educational experiences.
At Newark Academy, our faculty are deeply committed to growing lifelong learners through a
relationship-centered
,
skills-focused
and
culturally competent
approach in their classrooms.
Forging lifelong connections between student and faculty is central to Newark Academy’s core. Through small class sizes, Harkness-style discussions and weekly advisor group gatherings, students are equipped with a large, personalized support network that goes well beyond their time at NA.
Skills-based learning is an essential component of the Newark Academy’s curriculum. Students will master foundational skills in critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, communication, character development and cultural competency —
the Six C’s
— preparing them for a future beyond the classroom.
The Six C's
Newark Academy students will graduate with the ability to interact effectively with and appreciate people of different backgrounds and cultures while also making meaning of their own identities.
