The building and museum are CLOSED on major holidays: New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas Day.
The building closes at 3 pm on Christmas Eve, and at 5 pm on New Year’s Eve. The museum closes at the same times, if those days fall during normal museum hours (Wednesday–Sunday).

Half-Price Thursday and Friday Evenings
Admission is half-price every Thursday and on the second Friday of each month from 5:00 to 8:00 pm. Half-price tickets are available online as well as on-site, and are only valid after 5:00 pm on the selected day.
Discount for Ordering Online
There is a $2 discount on all general admission tickets when ordering online, applied at checkout! This discount is not applied to tickets for the guests of MAG Members, which are already 50% off.

Members always get free admission, and 50% off guest admission. These tickets and discounts are available online as well as on-site at the Admissions Desk.
Kids Age 5 and Under
Admission is always free for children age 5 and under. These tickets are available online as well as on-site at the Admissions Desk.
University of Rochester
Active University of Rochester students*, faculty, staff, and retirees always get free admission (with a valid ID). Tickets are available online and on-site at the Admissions Desk.
This includes staff from the
UR Medicine network of hospitals
, Eastman Dental, Flaum Eye Institute, and Monroe Community Hospital.

SOTA students and faculty can show their SOTA ID at the Admissions Desk and get free museum admission for themselves.
SNAP Card Holders
As part of the
Museums for All
program, SNAP card holders, as well as up to three guests, get free museum admission when presenting their card on-site at the Admissions Desk.
VIP Library Pass Program
MAG is part of the Monroe County Library System’s
Very Important Places (VIP) Pass Program
. Check out one of thirty-five passes available at different MCLS branches, bring it in to MAG, and enjoy free admission for all children age 18 and under and up to two adults.
Museums on Us® Program

, during the first full weekend of every month, Bank of America cardholders and employees get one free general admission at MAG. Present your Bank of America, Merrill® or Bank of America Private Bank® credit or debit card, (along with a valid photo ID) or your employee corporate ID (or other proof of employment with Bank of America, Merrill, or Bank of America Private Bank), along with a valid photo ID on-site at the Admissions Desk for free admission!
Nazareth College Students
Nazareth College students get free museum admission when they present a valid student ID on-site at the Admissions Desk.

Active-Duty Military
As part of the
Blue Star Museums
program, active-duty military personnel and their families get free museum admission from Armed Forces Day through Labor Day each year. The 2025 program begins on Saturday, May 17, 2025, and ends on Monday, September 1, 2025. These tickets are available on-site at the Admissions Desk.
Museum Employees
Museum employees get free museum admission for themselves and one guest on-site at the Admissions desk when they present their work ID. A $5 surcharge for winter holiday exhibitions may apply.
Guest Passes and Coupons
Individuals with guest passes or coupons can get their tickets on-site at the Admissions Desk. A $5 surcharge for winter holiday exhibitions may apply.
Museum Guidelines
In order to make the museum visit pleasurable for all, we ask that you follow the guidelines below:
Food, beverages, and umbrellas are not allowed in the gallery.
Backpacks must be stored in a locker, hand-carried, or worn on the front. Please use our free coat room and lockers located near the front entrance.
Baby back carriers must be worn on the front.
Wheelchairs and rollators are available in our coatroom for your use, free of charge.
Please do not touch. Natural oils and dirt from your hands can damage delicate artwork. Please do not lean on art cases or walls. Please stay 12 inches back to avoid touching the art or art cases by accident.
Please use regular or colored pencils only when making notes or drawing in the galleries. No pens, ink, or markers.
Please keep your cell phone on vibrate.
No photos are allowed of works marked with the ‘no photo’ icon. No flash photography or video in the collections is permitted.
For guests’ safety, we do not allow tripods, monopods, or selfie sticks anywhere in the museum. Commercial photographers should contact our Events Office at 585.276.8950 to inquire about site fees and space use policy.
