Continuing Professional Development
Investing in your team’s skills can bring huge benefits for both your organisation and your team members. At Newcastle University, we provide a broad range of professional development courses to help your team reach their full potential.
We deliver professional development programmes for a wide range of organisations around the world in a wide range of industries, from government agencies and healthcare providers to well-known brands.
Our CPD courses
Our continuing professional development (CPD) programmes combine world-leading research with specialist expertise, so you can equip your team with the knowledge they need to succeed.
Many of our CPD courses award academic credits and are accredited by professional bodies, so you can be assured of the quality of delivery.
Types of Courses
Accredited
Unless otherwise stated, ‘accredited’ refers to academic accreditation by Newcastle University and means that participants will be formally assessed against specific learning outcomes. Accreditation may either be at the level of a programme or an individual module. If courses are accredited by the University, this is shown alongside the course title, as displayed in the A-Z course list.
Upon successful completion of full programme, participants will receive a
transcript and University Award
. Those successfully completing a module will receive a transcript and a Certificate of Credit Achieved that shows the number and academic level of credits awarded.
Many courses also have CPD accreditation from the appropriate professional body - information is on the individual course pages.
Unaccredited
This type of course will have no final assessment and carries no University credit, although it may count towards CPD accreditation from a professional body. A Certificate of Completion may be supplied on completion of the course stating the course title and number of CPD hours studied. This is normally sufficient for professional bodies as proof of CPD credit for their records.
Stand alone modules
This refers to accredited modules that are taught independently and not as part of a programme of study. Very often these are modules that cover specific areas of curricula and are more useful for professional students as they concentrate on desired knowledge areas.
Credit Accumulation and Transfer Scheme (CATS)
This refers to the framework that enables the University to award stand-alone module credit. There are also a growing number of awards that can be made by putting together stand alone modules in related subject areas.
