Accessing Online Resources
Learn how visitors, students, faculty and staff can access online databases, journals and articles both on campus and remotely.
More Information
On-Campus Access to Online Resources
UCLA subscription databases can be accessed on all three campus Wi-Fi networks while on campus. Wi-Fi is available in most UCLA Library buildings. The networks
eduroam and UCLA_WIFI require a UCLA Logon ID, while UCLA_WEB is public and does not require a log-in.
For more information about connecting to Wi-Fi on campus,
please visit the UCLA IT Support Center's
Wireless Network Access pages.

Eduroam
Eduroam
(opens in a new tab)
is a global roaming wireless service for higher education. If your
device is set up to use the eduroam network at UCLA, you can connect to
eduroam at any
participating institution

Connecting from Off-Campus for Students, Staff and Faculty
Current students, faculty and staff can access Library subscription resources off-campus. This can be done through our virtual private network (VPN) or proxy server. The proxy server and the VPN require a
UCLA Logon ID

and
multi-factor authentication (MFA) enrollment

. Please contact the
UCLA IT Support Center

if you have problems setting up either one.
Each of the off-campus access resources works differently:
Proxy Server
(opens in a new tab)
: A web browser setting that diverts users to a UCLA logon page whenever they access a site for which UCLA has a subscription.
VPN
(opens in a new tab)
: A program you can download and install. You will have access to Library materials once you log on with the VPN software.
MFA
(opens in a new tab)
: An additional layer of security for systems, such as Duo Mobile.
Students and Staff in Professional Schools
Students and staff at certain professional schools should use the
following connection methods. These methods provide access to additional
resources.
Mednet VPN
(opens in a new tab)
: Offers a software VPN (like the campus-wide one) and a WebVPN (login via browser window).
Users
from Veterans Affairs West Los Angeles Medical Center need to use the
VPN to access library resources from off-campus. The VA national network
does not allow proxy access.

(including Campus VPN) even if they are able to obtain a BruinCard. If you are unsure of your eligibility status or believe you should be eligible for access please contact the IT Support Center for further assistance at help@it.ucla.edu.
