Mission of the Chapman Seminary
Conscious of the call of God, honoring our ties to General Baptists, and mindful of the Church universal, Chapman Seminary seeks to develop, through the professional education of men and women, the spiritual, moral, and intellectual maturity necessary for effective leadership in the church.
Chapman Seminary is a learning community dedicated to OCU’s mission: Oakland City University is a Christian faith-based learning community dedicated to the enhancement of intellectual, spiritual, physical, and social development for positive leadership.
Learning Outcomes of the Seminary are that our graduates will:
Chapman holds that a properly trained minister would develop in three primary dimensions: thinking theologically, living faithfully, and serving effectively. These broad dimensions act as primary goals of the program and are met by holistically addressing cognitive, affective, and behavioral domains. Chapman calls the interweaving of these dimensions and domains the Tapestry of Theological Education. The three main learning dimensions for each degree program are made more explicit by developing specific program learning outcomes that support the larger dimensions of the Tapestry:

Chapman Seminary is committed to developing the spiritual, moral, and intellectual maturity necessary for effective leadership in the Church. The school has developed a variety of tools, both quantitative and qualitative, to assess the extent to which students are achieving the outcomes of the degrees they are pursuing. The faculty regularly reviews this assessment data to measure the effectiveness of Chapman’s programs and for planning further improvements. Chapman Seminary provides ample support to ensure student success.
A recent survey of placement data offers encouraging evidence of the integrity of Chapman Seminary’s degree programs:

75% of graduates over the last twelve years (2007-2018) were involved in some kind of vocational ministry within the first year after their graduation
