Hi, my name is Karim Emad
and I’m a senior student at PUA Faculty of engineering (Electrical department). It was the first term of my fourth year when I first heard about the announcement that there’s an opportunity to be an exchange student at the KTH (Royal Institute of Technology) in Sweden.

My name is Youssef Rashid,
I’m 22 years old, I’m an engineering student at PUA. I went to the KTH for the exchange program and it was the best experience I ever went through. I got to make friends from all around the world, visit marvelous places that are worth it. I visited many cities there and I only regret not visiting more of them.

It was the first term of my fourth year when I first heard about the announcement that there’s an opportunity to be an exchange student at the KTH (Royal Institute of Technology) in Sweden. Of course, I was excited at first to hear that, but, I didn’t think that I’d go for it and apply. Back then, my GPA was 2.85 so I thought that this ‘d lower my chances as an applicant. However, it didn’t affect my chances at all, to apply you need to have an English placement test, have a well written C.V. and a motivational letter, have at least two recommendation letters, and finally an interview with the dean of your faculty and another one with the international relations.

After being admitted at the KTH and going through the travel documents it’s very important to prepare yourself mentally if it’s your first time traveling on your own especially to Europe. Also, I’d recommend not being impulsive in choosing your courses as you’ve to be very careful and to check if the course needs a specific prerequisite. Moreover, I’d advise you not to register for more than two courses per period as the course is very concentrated and needs hard work. you should also know that the whole educational system is different as it aims for the student to do more self-study and research to get the knowledge along with the lectures and tutorials. My exchange period was 5 months and during this time I learned lots of cultural and personal stuff as it’s great to experience living on your own and interacting with your international colleagues.
All in all, it was a great experience that had an impact both mentally and physically upon me and I’d recommend anyone to go for it.

Adapting to the KTH education wasn’t easy and it required a lot of work, but at the end of the day, it was worth it because I gained a lot of information in six months more than I could’ve learned in years.
Sweden is a very gorgeous country with a lot of great natural views and many fun activities to do. KTH is one of the best universities in Sweden, yet in Europe where you can get a very good experience studying there.

KTH
is an engineering school that has 2 big campuses in Stockholm. The courses are very practical and focus on understanding concepts.
Here are some tips for any student visiting the KTH:
Course selection:
KTH has over 400 courses that you can select from with a maximum of 30 credits (HP).
The semester consists of 2 individual periods which is good to make you focus on 2 courses only per period.
Registering or dropping a course is through the website.
Make sure to check which campus you have your lecture or tutorial at.
Campus:
You can find everything you need in the labs and the library.
There’s a lot of good places for you to study (e.g.: the library, the nimble, etc..)
