Celebrating Success: Nazareth Students Shine on the Global Stage
Earlier this month, we brought you the stories of several Nazareth students who secured victories at a national level across a broad spectrum of disciplines. Their outstanding performances catapulted several of them onto the international stage, and we are also delighted to present some additional recent success stories.
Tayte Ryan
After Year 12 student Tayte Ryan’s success at the National Championships, he was one of eight track and road cyclists representing Australia in green and gold at the August 2023 Commonwealth Youth Games in Trinidad and Tobago. Tayte’s outstanding talents earned him an unbelievable result, winning three gold medals! He also won silver in the UCI Junior Track World Championships in the Men’s Sprint and gold in the kilometre time trial, almost breaking the world record, falling short by just 4 seconds! Angelika and Aamon
Duhoslav
Angelika (Year 11) and Aamon (Year 8) recently represented Australia, showcasing their talents at the World Dragon Boat Championships held in Thailand. Angelika came home with five bronze medals for the U18 category, and Aamon proudly won a silver medal and five bronze in the U16 category. With amazing efforts and contributions, Angelika and Aamon Australia placed 5
th
overall in the Championships.
Antonia and Alexia Aritsidis
Antonia and Alexia Aristidis (Year 8) both successfully secured a spot to represent Australia in the World Skate Oceania Artistic Skating Championships & Pacific Cup held a few weeks ago after their incredible results in the National Artistic Roller-Skating Championships in Perth. Antonia and Alexia excitedly travelled to Brisbane to represent Australia, preparing to showcase their talents for the international competition in which they received exceptional results. Alexia achieved an outstanding 1st place result, and Antonia placed an impressive 3rd. Alexia also competed in the Pacific Cup, securing another fantastic result, earning 3rd place.
Louis Pietsch
Year 8 student Louis proudly earned his spot to compete in Canberra for the U15 National Australian Cross Championships last Saturday, representing South Australia. Louis was successful in the competition, placing an incredible 3
rd
place with a time of 12 minutes and 57 seconds in the 4000-metre run.
Poppy Grygorcewicz
Year 6 student Poppy was selected to represent South Australia in the U12 State Football Competition. Poppy and her 22 teammates travelled to Lavington NSW for the week-long State Football Carnival. Poppy proudly represented South Australia to help win four out of six games, finishing 3rd overall alongside the Western Australia State team.
“I found this experience very rewarding, and I am looking forward to being involved in AFL football in the future,”
said Poppy.
Indiana Fowler
Congratulations to Indiana Fowler (Year 6), who was selected to participate in the South Australian team for the U12 National Girls Touch Football Competition. Unfortunately, Indiana could not compete due to illness, but she provided unwavering support to her team on the sidelines.
“Even though I could not play, I am proud of my team and how they worked together and played as one,”
said Indiana.
Scarlett Matulick
Scarlett Matulick (Year 7) recently represented South Australia in diving at the School Sport National Competition in Sydney. Despite being unable to compete due to a collarbone injury, Scarlett demonstrated remarkable sportsmanship by serving as a medal bearer throughout the event. Her dedication and resilience earned her a prestigious Sportsmanship Award from School Sport Australia.
Brayth Morris
Year 10 student Brayth Morris has been selected to represent South Australia at the Lacrosse SA U15 National Competition in Ballarat this September. Brayth, a rising lacrosse talent, expressed his excitement and gratitude for this opportunity to compete against the nation’s best young players.
