Campus Safety and Security
La Jolla Country Day School is a closed campus. Our priority is to ensure a safe environment for students, staff, and visitors. Please follow the procedures below.
Visitor Check-In Procedures
We value and welcome the presence of pre-registered visitors on campus. Please use the Genesee Ave entrance.
All visitors must check in at either the Genesee guard station or the main reception desk in the Jacobs Family Library/Administration Building. The security guard will direct visitors where to park and meet their hosts.
Visitors must present a valid ID and be scanned through the SchoolPass system, which performs an instant background check against all 50 states’ sex offender registries.
After check-in, visitors will receive a temporary ID badge, which must be worn at all times while on campus and returned to the main desk before departure.
Volunteer ID Requirements
Volunteers make a meaningful difference in the daily lives of LJCDS students. Parents and other family members can help in classrooms, support events, or join committees. To maintain a safe and secure environment, all volunteers must:
Sign in at either the Genesee guard station or the main reception in the Jacobs Family Library/Administration Building.
Wear a visible official LJCDS ID badge or obtain a temporary visitor badge upon arrival.
Keep their badge on at all times while on campus.
If a badge is lost or forgotten, a temporary one can be picked up at the Security Office or the Main Reception Desk. Security or staff will kindly redirect any adult not wearing a badge to a check-in location.
Arrival and Departure Guidelines
List of 3 items.
Parking Lots
All designated lots are locked after morning drop-off.
Lots reopen approximately 30 minutes before dismissal.
The Genesee and Upper School/gym lots are open during the regular school day except for major holidays. Access hours are subject to change.
Student Check-In/Out
Students arriving late or leaving early must check in or out at their division office.
Check the Family Handbook for complete details.
Vehicle Permits
All vehicles used for drop-off or pickup must be registered with security and have an LJCDS vehicle decal displayed on the bottom of the driver’s side windshield.
Vehicles with permits are more easily directed by campus security during traffic flow times.
