In the event of an emergency, this space will be used to provide timely information to the University community. It will be updated regularly as new information becomes available. This site informs the Northwestern community about what to do in advance of, during and after a major emergency.
Northwestern Emergency Notification System
Northwestern’s University-wide emergency notification system warns students, faculty, staff and visitors more quickly in the event of an immediate or imminent threat on campus, as well as other important situations.
AlertNU
For:
An immediate or imminent life safety threat believed to be occurring on or near campus.
What to do:
Immediate action is required. Follow instructions in AlertNU communications.
Example:
Active aggressor reported on or near campus.
Crime Notice
For:
Incidents of crime considered to be serious or continuing threats to safety, as required by the Clery Act.
What to do:
Review the notice in its entirety, including any listed practices that will allow you to protect yourself and aid in the prevention of similar crimes.
Examples:
Robbery, aggravated assault, vehicle theft and hate crimes.
