Programme Overview
The Master of International Relations at Iconic University is a 3-semester professional master’s programme that offers students an in-depth study of global issues and the skills necessary to navigate the complex world of international relations and diplomacy. Students in this programme will explore a wide range of topics, including UN and regional organizations, embassy administration, global warming and climate action, humanitarian affairs, human rights, and mass communication in the context of global affairs. Through a combination of theoretical coursework and practical hands-on learning experiences, students will develop a strong foundation in international relations and diplomacy, preparing them for careers in a variety of fields in the global arena. The programme also offers specialized concentrations in five key areas, providing students with the opportunity to focus their studies and develop advanced expertise in a specific area of interest.

Objectives
To provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the structures, processes, and functions of the United Nations, regional organizations, and development partners and their role in global governance and development.
To equip students with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively manage and administer diplomatic missions, such as embassies and high commissions, in an international context.
To foster an understanding of the impacts of global warming and climate change and the policies and actions needed to address these pressing issues at both local and international levels.
To train students in the principles and practices of humanitarian affairs and sustainable development, allowing them to effectively respond to international crises and promote sustainable development initiatives.
To develop a critical understanding of human rights issues and their relation to social development, and to equip students with the skills to advocate for human rights at a national and international level.
To provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively communicate in the global arena, with a focus on mass communication and its role in shaping global affairs and diplomacy.

the

a

the

mass
communication
in
shaping
global
affairs
.
Through
courses

relationship

media

diplomacy

preparing

diverse

Entry Criteria
To be admitted for this programme, candidate must have 5 O’Level credits passes in English Language, Mathematics, including any other 3 subjects. In addition to the O’Level requirement above, candidate is expected to:
(a) i. have a minimum of second class lower division of a first degree in Management or Social Science.
(b) have a first degree with third class plus 5 years post-graduation experience or HND plus a university PGD at credit level pass, (i.e., CGPA of 3.0/5.0) or 50% on weighted percentage average may be considered for admission.
(c) present NYSC certificate (discharge, exemption or exclusion) for Nigerian candidates.

Only certificates recognized by the Senate of Iconic University will be granted admissions.
Fees
Iconic University charges modest fees that give learners the chance to pay per semester only. Nigerian c
