Mergers and acquisitions
A new mandatory merger control regime for notifying and assessing acquisitions is in effect from 1 January 2026.
The
new regime
is designed to strengthen Australia’s merger control and provide more certainty and transparency.
Card surcharges
Businesses can charge a surcharge for paying by card, but the surcharge must not be more than what it costs the business to process that payment type.
Business must make sure their customers know about any card payment surcharges upfront.
