Medr is responsible for funding and regulating the tertiary education and research sector in Wales.
For the first time, the tertiary education and research sector is managed and co-ordinated by one arm’s length body of the Welsh Government.
What we do
Since 1 August 2024, we have regulated institutions, and funded:
further education
higher education, including research and innovation
apprenticeships
adult community learning
local authority maintained school sixth forms.
Our vision
We work in close collaboration with our partners to enable a tertiary education and research system that is centred around the needs of learners, society, and the economy, with excellence, equality, and engagement at its heart.
