Welcome to the Grayslake Historical Society
Founded in 1976, the society is dedicated to promoting and preserving the Village of Grayslake’s pioneering history that has charted more than a century of progress.
Grayslake is located in central Lake County, Illinois about 40 miles north of Chicago and 14 miles west of Lake Michigan and is home to more than 20,000 people. Both long-time residents and first-time visitors are invited to explore this site and learn more about the society, the village and the Grayslake Municipal Historical Museum.
Grayslake Historical Society: 50th Anniversary Announcement:
If thinking about the Society’s “Golden Anniversary” stirs memories, the current Board of Trustees would love to hear from you via a letter to 164 Hawley Street or email to ChaRenehan@aol.com. Perhaps you would like to share why you joined the Society or why Grayslake history is important to you. You could express your appreciation of a favorite exhibit or program, or maybe recall a humorous or rewarding member experience. It’s entirely up to you! Whether you want to write just a sentence or something longer, all responses will be appreciated and saved in the Society’s archives. Some may even appear in the next issue of

Curious Grayslake
The Grayslake Central Honors US History students, in conjunction with the Grayslake Historical Society have created a series of short videos centered around questions students wanted answered about their town, their school and surrounding areas. We have compiled their questions and final videos on a website that can be found here:

Summer Hours beginning June 5:
Wednesday’s: 12:00pm-7:00pm
Thursday-Saturday: 12:00pm-4:00pm
And during special events in the downtown area, such as pancake breakfasts, car shows, Summer Days and more
General: Wednesday – Friday: 12:00pm – 4:00pm
Saturday: 10:00am-4:00pm
During
Grayslake Farmers Market

During special events in the downtown area, such as pancake breakfasts, car shows, tree lighting, Summer Days and more
Archives:
Thursdays from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM
The archives are also open when the archivist is in the building. Appointments can be arranged by calling.
