What We Do
The Industrial Technologies Office (ITO) funds research, development, pilot-scale demonstrations, and technical assistance and workforce development to increase competitiveness of the U.S. industrial base in global markets.
ITO is a suboffice within the U.S. Department of Energy’s
Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy
. The U.S. industrial sector contributes $4.8 trillion to the economy and enables 21 million American jobs. ITO accelerates innovation to strengthen the industrial sector and secure American supply chains for critical products and commodities like steel, cement, and concrete.
