Small Business Advisory: Security Grilles
Local Law 75 of 2009 requires that no later than July 1, 2026, all existing and new security grilles installed at businesses adjacent to a public sidewalk must meet new visibility requirements. Landmarked buildings and buildings in historic districts are exempt.

FISP: Local Law 11 Report
DOB, in partnership with engineering firm Thornton Tomasetti, releases the first-ever report using evidence-based building science to recommend improvements to the current façade inspection requirements. The report findings highlight areas that could potentially reduce the need for some sidewalk sheds without negatively impacting public safety.

Buildings After Hours Schedule
DOB borough offices will be open the first and third Tuesday of the month from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Staff will be available to answer questions and provide needed information to homeowners, tenants, building managers, and small business owners.

Industry Meetings:
DOB hosts monthly in-person industry meetings for RDPs and Class 2 Filing Reps at each borough office. The meetings provide an opportunity for industry professionals, with business before DOB to interface with borough staff with their questions and concerns.
